I've seen several cute kid art gallery ideas out there, and it got me thinking. Typically our kids' art goes either all over their bedroom walls or on the fridge.
Two small problems. 1. I hate how much stuff we already have cluttering the fridge. It doesn't really showcase anything. 2. I am always running out of push pins for their rooms.
Solution: bit of wall doing nothing else but being a wall (actually it had a painting that Mateo wanted for his office, so we swapped painting for gallery), and clothespins.
I have seen some excellent clothespins out there with paint and modge podge, but I didn't want the pins to take attention from the art and I didn't want anything fru-fru. I have boys, and while they've been known to don the occasionally tutu or mardi gras beads, they are not very fru-fru. :) So I wanted to keep it simple.
So, to get the clothespins in the right places, I clipped a paper in it so I would know how much space to give each and marked on the wall where they should be placed.
Then, I hot glued them to the wall. Yep, you heard me. Hot glue. I do this all time. I've actually never had it even pull paint off the wall when I've taken it down. At most the damage would only ever be a small patch job.
Added my little "boy made" sign. (It was the best I could come up with because I only had one of each letter.) I first just put the letters up, but it didn't stand out enough, so I put them on paper.
And then had the boys pick what artwork they wanted to hang.
And then had the boys pick what artwork they wanted to hang.
On the lower pins, they can reach themselves and change them out if they chose. I'll have to help with the higher pins.
I had to put some low anyway because Gabe is always making pictures for our cat. He usually hangs them on the bottom of the fridge. :)
Then we will save push pins for greater loved and or larger works of art.
